Pruning Season
This past fall it was time to cut back the bushes and plants to get ready for winter for our landscaping so they would flourish more in the coming year with their vibrant colors and growth, a few years ago we decided to landscape our front yard when we had everything done it look wonderful. Then when the fall season came we got a lesson in pruning.
We needed to prune a couple of trees in the front yard as the pruning shears cut the limb I notice in the core of the branch it was wet and I ask our landscaper why that was? He said it was bleeding. His answer he gave me stuck with me over the next few days. Because when we get prune we bleed.
In the backyard we had to snip off some small growths on the branches because if we didn’t it could stop the growth of the tree. As Christians we have small growths on our branch that can take away from the nourishment that we need for growing strong and vibrant for our Lord. These small growths can be many things that interfere with our walk and time we could be spending with the Lord in Bible Study, prayer and faith building.
The process of being prune isn’t fun and I’m sure if the tree could have spoken it would have yell at the thought of the actual trimming. Sometimes in a Christian’s walk we’ll be pruned because the Father loves us and because of this he will correct us.
Proverbs 3:12 NLT
12 For the Lord corrects those he loves,just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.In the book of John Chapter 15: 1-10 Jesus speaks of being the true vine and his Father is the husbandman and we are the branches. The Father prunes us by clipping, snipping and cutting back, trimming us so that the fruit we bear will bear even more fruit for His Glory.
By bearing the fruit of the Spirit we will have a greater bearing of witness that honors our Father in heaven. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, faith, meekness and temperance. By walking in the Spirit we have a greater opportunity of witnessing to others because our actions speak louder than words.
Galatians 5: 22-23 KJV
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Ephesians 5: 9 KJV
9 For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;
The fruit of the Spirit can only come by abiding in Jesus, through prayer and communion which is unity with Jesus, close association with Jesus and a relationship with Jesus. Spending time with Jesus daily in prayer and study will bring you closer, as the Word says “draw closer to God and He will draw closer to you.”
Be blessed and let’s abide in Jesus to bring Glory unto the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
In His Grace,
Randy

Twelve Ordinary Men Workbook
By John MacArthur
Obedience to God causes ordinary people to do extraordinary things. That was the premise of John MacArthur's popular book Twelve Ordinary Men, in which he looked at the lives of Jesus' disciples. He showed how their availability and obedience enabled them to turn their world upside down. More importantly, he showed how the same could be true of you as well. John MacArthur has developed a practical workbook to enable you to foster obedience and availability to God in your own life. Used in conjunction with the book, the Twelve Ordinary Men Workbook offers valuable, life-changing insights for individuals and small groups alike.
